Ben Fuqua becomes the latest in-state player to commit to the Wildcats

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s golf program received a commitment from one of the state’s top high school golfers, Ben Fuqua, head coach Brian Craig announced, Saturday. Fuqua, the 2003 Kentucky Junior State Amateur Golf 17-18 Champion and “Mr. Golf” of Kentucky, signed a letter of intent to join the Wildcats’ program next season. He is a Danville, Ky., native and attends Danville H.S.

“Ben is a big, strong player who has clearly established himself as the best graduating senior in the state of Kentucky,” Craig said. “We’re thrilled that he has decided to join the Wildcat family. He has great character and has set some lofty goals for himself that I look forward to helping him achieve.”

In addition to winning the state junior championship, Fuqua took first place in the 2003 Musselman/Baker-Geary-Dunn Tour Championship. He also won the KHSAA Individual State Championship and was named to the KHSAA All-State Golf Team.

Fuqua chose the University of Kentucky over the University of Louisville. The early signing period ends Wednesday, Nov. 19.
