Kentucky sophomore Steven Manley recorded the highest-individual finish for the Cats on day one of the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C. Manley clocked a 4:28.96 in the 500-yard freestyle event to take third place. Manley later swam the 200-yard individual medley in 1:51.15, taking 10th place.

Kentucky?s ?A? team took third and the ?B? team placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The ?A? team of sophomore Daniel Farnham, senior Fernando Barros, and juniors Clay Gasparovich and Tim Patrick completed the event in 1:21.26 while the ?B? team of junior Daniel Cruz, freshman Mark Doyle, junior Jerram Chudleigh and Manley followed close behind in 1:22.79.

For the UK women, the team of junior Jessica Siegele and sophomores Laura Graham, Shantel Commander and Joanna McLean took seventh in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:52.10. In the 500-yard freestyle event, senior Brennan Moore claimed an 11th-place finish with a time of 4:54.94. Two other Wildcats finished in the top 20; senior Shawna Sechrist at 17th and senior Amanda Bourgeois in 19th.

Day two of the Nike Cup begins Friday at 10 a.m. ET.
