Events will be held Friday and Saturday at the Nutter Field House
The Kentucky track & field teams will continue the 2004 indoor season by hosting the Rod McCravy Memorial on Jan. 30-31 at the Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky. The meet begins on Friday evening with six events and continues throughout the day on Saturday.
The meet will mark the second competition for the Cats, as they opened the season two weeks ago with the Kentucky Invitational. UK fared well in the opener, as the Cats took top honors in the women’s mile run and the men’s and women’s 4 x 800-meter relays. Genessa Guzman set a school record in the 20 lb. weight throw with a toss of 60-11.25 and three-time All-American Jeff Chakouian provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in his first competition of the year with his second-place shot put throw of 63-10.9.
Kentucky is looking to build upon a successful 2003 season that saw 11 student-athletes garner All-American honors, including eight returnees in 2004.
