COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Wildcats (1-5, 0-3 SEC) hit the road this weekend to participate in the 24th annual Missouri Cat Classic at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo. UK will compete against No. 12 Missouri (2-2), No. 21 Penn State (4-1) and Brigham Young (1-2) in the two day event that takes place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7 at 7 p.m. CT.
The State Farm Cat Classic features some stiff competition with two ranked teams and four gymnasts who are ranked in the Top-25 in individual events. Friday will feature the four teams in a quad meet and Saturday, the top 10 competitors from each event will compete for the individual championships.
?This is a great event and we are looking forward to it,? Coach ?Mo? Muhammad said. ?We had good performances on vault and bars last weekend and our obvious goal is to perform well across the board. The competitiveness of this event should bring out the best in our girls.?
Senior Aronda Primault has been Kentucky?s top performer this season. She tied her career-high in the all-around with a 39.350 last week against Auburn and George Washington and she has the highest vault average (9.85), beam average (9.61) and all-around average (39.05) on the team.
This weekend will mark the ninth time Kentucky has participated in the Cat Classic. Former UK All-American Jenny Hansen won six individual titles, including two All-Around championships in 1994 and ?96.
