Tucson, Ariz. ? The Kentucky women?s golf team sits in third place after one round at the N.C. State Saguaro Cactus Classic at the Dell Urich Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz. Three members of the team posted top-10 performances after 18 holes of the three- day tournament.
The Cats were led in day one by Eva Gessner, Erin Faulkner and Marissa Muir, who each shot a 76 on the par-70 course to end the day in a tie for sixth place. Katie Dixon wasn?t far behind the leaders with a 77, good enough for a tie for 14th, and Emily Culbertson rounded out the scoreboard for UK in a tie for 37th. Ali Kicklighter, who is competing as an individual for the Cats, currently stands in a tie for 24th.
The Cats are 11 shots behind first-place NC State with a team score of 305. The Wolfpack?s Ashlee Dean is the leader through one round with a one-under 69, the only player in the tournament to break par.
