University of Kentucky track athlete Jeff Chakouian finished third in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday in Austin, Texas. Chakouian completed a throw of 65-02.75 to earn his fourth All-America honor. Also earning All-America honors for UK Saturday was senior Brooke Patterson, who finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:06.34. It was the second All-America honor for the Ohio State transfer.
Thomas Morgan finished 20th in the men?s 5000 meters Saturday to wrap up UK?s competitors in the field. He completed the race in a time of 15:03.27.
Chakouian earned six points for Kentucky at the meet, placing the Wildcats 40th overall. Arkansas won the men?s crown with 65 total points. The Kentucky women tallied three points, placing them tied for 56th in the competition. UCLA won the women?s title with 69 points in the meet.
