UK golfers Eva Gessner and Stacy Springer have been named All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association.

Gessner, an Alzenau, Germany native who completed her eligibility in the spring, led the Cats this past season with a stroke average of 78.32. Her top finish came at the Big River Telephone Classic, where she tied for third place overall. Gessner also is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Springer, a senior from St. Charles, Ill., saw action in four tournaments throughout the season and scored her top finish at the Wildcat Fall Invitational. She also is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

To earn an All-American scholar selection, collegiate golfers must carry a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and must compete in at least 66% of their team?s regularly scheduled rounds.

Faulkner Qualifies for U.S. Women?s Amateur

Kentucky junior Erin Faulkner has qualified for the U.S. Women?s Amateur Championship set for Aug. 9-15 at the Kahkwa Club in Erie, Pa. The Bowling Green, Ky., native recently completed a strong second season in Lexington and scored a season-high fifth-place finish last fall at the Ross Resorts
