University of Kentucky forward Sheray Thomas underwent a planned surgical procedure of an undisclosed nature at the University of Kentucky Hospital Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery. He is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital by the weekend. The sophomore from Montreal, Quebec, will not be available when the team begins practice Oct. 16, but should return to basketball activity in 4-6 weeks.

?Sheray is resting comfortably and appreciates everyone?s thoughts and prayers. He looks forward to being back on the court soon,? Coach Tubby Smith said.

The University respects Thomas? rights under federal privacy laws and will make no further comment at this time per his request.
