• Kentucky ends the season 7-6 overall.  Georgia Tech is 9-4.  

• Georgia Tech leads the series 12-7-1, hailing back to the days that Tech was a member of the Southeastern Conference.  Prior to today, the teams had not played since 1960. 

• Making its 16th bowl appearance, Kentucky has an 8-8 record in postseason play.

• This was Kentucky’s first appearance in the TaxSlayer Bowl.  This was the 62nd edition of the event which began as the Gator Bowl in 1946.

• This was Kentucky’s best season since 2009, when the Wildcats were 7-6.

• Kentucky had 324 yards total offense today.  UK finished the season with 5,463 yards total offense, fourth-best in school history.

• UK averaged 6.2 yards per offensive play this season, second highest in school history.

• UK had 149 rushing yards today and finished with 3,044 rushing yards this season, only the second team in school history to surpass 3,000.  The 1974 team had 3,124 rushing yards. 

• Kentucky averaged 5.4 yards per rushing attempt this season, a school record. The old record was 4.9 yards per attempt in 1974. 

• Kentucky had 30 rushing touchdowns this season, tying the record of 30 rush TDs in 1949.

• UK went 2-of-4 on third-down conversions today.  The Wildcats are 12-of-16 on the season. The Cats lead the Southeastern Conference in fourth-down conversions at 83.3 percent.

• UK’s game captains were senior center Jon Toth, junior quarterback Stephen Johnson, junior linebacker Courtney Love and senior defensive lineman Courtney Miggins.  It is the first time this season that this combination of players have been captains.

• Junior quarterback Stephen Johnson was named UK’s Most Valuable Player of the bowl game. 

o He completed 19 of 34 passes for 175 yards and one touchdown.  

o He also was the team’s leading rusher with 49 net yards, including a 21-yard scramble for a touchdown.

• Junior running back Stanley “Boom” Williams had 11 carries for 35 yards.

o After the game, Williams announced his intention to declare for the 2017 NFL Draft. 

o Williams has 1,170 yards this season, fifth on the UK single-season list. It’s the most in one season since Artose Pinner ran for 1,414 yards in 2002. 

o He averaged 6.8 yards per carry this season, just shy of his own school record of 7.1 yards per carry set in 2015.

o Williams finished his career with 2,511 rushing yards, seventh on the UK career list. 

• True freshman running back Benny Snell had seven carries for 34 yards.

o He has 1,091 rushing yards for the season, sixth on the UK single-season rushing list. 

• Senior running back Jojo Kemp had three carries for 28 yards.

o Kemp has 1,709 rushing yards as a Wildcat, moving up three slots today for 12th place on the UK career list.

• Junior wide receiver Dorian Baker caught two passes for 38 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown catch.

o He became the 27th player in Kentucky history (and the fourth on this year’s team) to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in his career, and now has 1,015 yards as a Wildcat.

• Senior wide receiver Ryan Timmons caught three passes for 30 yards today.

o He finished his career with 112 catches for 1,254 yards.  He moved into sole possession of 20th place on the UK career receiving yardage list. 

• Junior kicker Austin MacGinnis made a 37-yard field goal and his only extra point try. 

o He now has 257 career points and will head into his senior season on second place on the all-time UK scoring list.

• Sophomore linebacker Jordan Jones had nine tackles today and finished the season as the team’s leader with 109 tackles.

o Jones had 1.5 tackles for loss today, leading the team in that category with 15.5 for the season.

• Sophomore safety Mike Edwards had seven tackles today, finishing the season with an even 100 stops. 

• Sophomore linebacker Nico Firios blocked a punt on the first possession of the third quarter. It is the first blocked kick of his career. 

• Senior center Jon Toth made his 48th consecutive start. 

• Junior tight end Greg Hart made his first start as a Wildcat.

• Fourteen Wildcats played their final game in the Blue and White, including FB Will Thomas Collins, FB Tanner Fink, CB J.D. Harmon, RB Jojo Kemp, DB Blake McClain, S Marcus McWilson, DL Courtney Miggins, C Zach Myers, WR Ryan Timmons, C Jon Toth, and DT Zane Williams. Three Cats are juniors forgoing their senior seasons, including WR Alex Montgomery, OG Dylan Greenberg and OG Ramsey Meyers.
