LEXINGTON, Ky. ?Senior Brooke Patterson was named SEC Track Runner of the Week for her 800-meter performance last weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. Patterson is the second UK track athlete to receive the honor this season.
The two-time All-American and school record holder in three events took top honors in the women?s 800-meter run. Patterson battled 20-30 mile per hour winds and 40 degree temperatures to record a season-best regional qualifying time of 2:09.45.
The Lancaster, Ohio, native finished eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last season to earn her second All-American honor. Patterson also competed at the Olympic Trials in the 800 meters in 2004.
The Cats return to action Apr. 8-9 at the SEC-Big 10 Challenge. The meet will be hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.
