PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? The University of Kentucky men?s and women?s 4×800-meter relay teams competed in wet conditions at the 111th Penn Relays in Philadelphia Saturday.

The men?s 4×800-meter relay squad recorded a season-best time of 7:22.59 to finish third in the college men?s 4×800-meter relay heat. Senior Nick Devenport (1:54.9) ran the lead-off leg for the Cats, followed by senior Kris Landers (1:53.1), sophomore Nick Reeves (1:54.9) and freshman Stephan Smith (1:51.6).

The women?s squad finished fifth in its heat of the college women?s 4×800-meter relay championship at Franklin Field, recording a time of 8:39.98. The foursome consisted of sophomore Jackie Gordon (2:10), senior Brooke Patterson (2:10), freshman Lavera Morris (2:09) and sophomore Georganne Way (2:10).

UK will prepare for the SEC Championships during the upcoming week and travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the championships May 12-15.
