LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Kentucky thrower Nicole Allyn was named to the Southeastern Conference Track and Field Good Works Team, which highlights an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
Allyn, a senior from West Warwick, R.I., has been an active volunteer at the UK Children?s Hospital. She has also extended her hand to helping Lexington?s youth as a mentor of elementary school children at Johnson Elementary and Lansdowne Elementary.
The kinesiology major has participated in the UK Athletics Food Drive for God?s Pantry and has worked with the Special Olympics while at UK. Her efforts have also included volunteering at the National Conference for Community & Justice (NCCJ), helping with UK?s Big Blue Blast and assisting at both UK and high school track meets.
