University of Kentucky baseball standout Collin Cowgill competed in the Valley League All-Star Game this past Sunday and helped his Southern Division team to a 4-2 victory over the Northern Division.
Cowgill, a sophomore-to-be for the Wildcats, went 1-for-3 and scored a run in the winning effort. He was selected to play in the game after leading his team, the Covington Lumberjacks, six home runs over the first half of the summer. He also paced the squad with 14 extra-base hits and a .540 slugging percentage.
At 21-13 on the season, the Lumberjacks stand in first place in their division at the halfway mark.
As a freshman last year Cowgill started 31 games, most coming in left field. He belted a pair of home runs and drove in 19.
