The Kentucky women?s tennis team had a successful start to the UK Fall Invitational with four girls advancing to the semifinals of their respective flights.

Juniors Kim Coventry, Lara Maurer. Caroline Winebrenner, as well as senior Danielle Petrisko, all won their first two matches to move on to the semifinals of main draw competition.

Junior Joelle Schwenk won her first match of the day before falling to Denver?s Suzana Makovic. Schwenk will continue play tomorrow in the bracket to claim fifth place in the Flight A singles bracket.

Liis Sober, a native of Estonia, dropped her first match of the day to Abilene Christian?s Megan Brown, but rebounded to defeat Ina Durcakova of Eastern Kentucky to continue play tomorrow in the backdraw of the Flight C singles bracket.

In doubles action, the duo of Petrisko and Maurer defeated Purdue?s Anya Dzeva and Whitney Reys 8-2. Sober and Winebrenner also advanced to the second round of doubles play. The 9th-ranked duo of Conventry and Schwenk got a first round bye on Friday.

Day two of the UK Fall Invitational begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. with singles play. Doubles action is scheduled to start in the afternoon. Fans can check ukathletics.com for recaps of all the day?s action.
