LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Sophomore Kentucky golfer Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) carded a five-over-par 221 (70-74-77) to pace the Wildcats to a fourth-place finish at the Wildcat Fall Invitational on Sunday at the University Club. The Cats shot a three-round total of 894 (291-299-304) to finish one stroke behind third-place Miami.

Florida captured the event with an 881 (296-288-297) and the Gators were led by freshman Mallory Blackwelder, a Versailles, Ky., native, who won the individual title with a four-under-par 212 (68-71-73). North Carolina concluded tournament play in second place with an 891 (302-288-301).

?I am proud of the way our golfers competed this weekend,? UK coach Stephanie Barker said. ?They struggled on a couple of holes, but overall we really played steady. To have two of our golfers finish in the top 10 is very strong.?

Felts finished tied for seventh to lead all UK golfers, while senior Erin Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.) completed play tied for 10th place with a 223 (74-71-78).

?Beth had a great tournament,? Barker said. ?I am pleased with the way she played. She wasn?t able to get as many birdies as she would have liked, but she still put together a solid tournament.?

Sophomore Elizabeth Dotson (White Bluff, Tenn.) recovered from a tough second round to post a third-round 74 and finish the tournament tied for 28th place with a 230 (70-86-74).

?I really am happy with the way Elizabeth was able to come back with a great third round,? Barker said. ?She struggled in the second round yesterday and it was really nice to see her play so well today.?

Senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.) shot a 231 (77-76-78) putting her in a tie for 33rd place, while junior Emily Culbertson (Crestview Hills, Ky.) tied for 43rd place with a 235 (82-78-75).

Kentucky returns to action Friday when it travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., to compete in the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. The three-day event is being hosted by the University of North Carolina. Complete recaps and statistics of the tournament will be available at ukathletics.com.
