Junior Krystle Cook was named UK Gymnast of the Week by the coaching staff after placing first in the all-around competition Friday night vs. Arkansas with a career-high 39.525. The score is currently the eight highest mark nationally this season. The Austin, Texas native placed first on vault (9.9), second on bars (9.925, tied career-high) and tied for second on beam (9.875) in helping No. 19 Kentucky score a season-best team score of 196.250 (second highest UK history). For the season, Cook ranks in the top 20 nationally in three events (13th vault, 9.870; 14th bars, 9.865; 20th all-around (39.044). Among Central Region gymnasts, Cook ranks in the top 10 for vault, bars, floor and all-around. Other highly ranked UK gymnasts include freshman Heather Hite who ranks t-9th nationally on beam (9.855 avg.).
