NASHVILLE, TN. ? With Nashville hosting the 2006 South Eastern Conference Men?s Basketball Tournament, the ?big blue nation? will inject the city with Wildcat spirit in March. To welcome these fans and celebrate the greatness of Kentucky basketball, the University of Kentucky?s Nashville Alumni Club will host the Big Blue Pep Rally before the Wildcats? first game of the 2006 SEC Men?s Basketball Tournament, which starts March 9 in Nashville. The Big Blue Pep Rally will celebrate the Kentucky Wildcats and provide a pre-game rally to show the intense spirit of UK fans and allow all those attending the SEC Tournament to have a great time in Music City. The Greater Nashville Area University of Kentucky Alumni Club invites fans to attend the event at the Wildhorse Saloon and Restaurant located on Second Avenue.

?With the SEC Tournament at the Gaylord Entertainment Center, we chose a location that was convenient in downtown Nashville and showcased the unique qualities of Music City. This will be a high-energy party where everyone will have fun and make special memories,? said Teresa Hayden, Nashville Alumni Club President. ?Visiting UK fans along with local supporters are welcome to purchase tickets and enjoy the festivities and special guests. Fans can attend the event before the UK game and easily return to the tournament,? Hayden added.

A highlight of the event will be the special guests who will include numerous representatives of UK including former UK great Jeff Sheppard, the National Champion UK Cheerleaders, the UK Pep Band, the award-winning UK Dance Team, UK Mascots and other UK dignitaries and fans. Fans will enjoy hearing talks and cheers from a variety of big blue dignitaries while sharing their spirit with others dedicated to Kentucky basketball.

The UK Pep Rally will feature the Wildhorse Disc Jockey, food, drinks, and a host of area vendors offering the best in Kentucky fan ware and collectibles. The UK event will be similar to those hosted in Atlanta at past tournaments with more than 1,000 guests expected. The first 250 paid admissions will receive a FREE Event T-Shirt. Door prizes and dancing will excite the crowd as they warm-up for the Wildcats? next showdown, their first game of this year?s SEC tournament. A silent auction for two UK basketballs signed by Coach Tubby Smith will also be held during the festivities. The entire Wildhorse Saloon will be open to this very popular event giving the UK fans three floors of space and a festive location to celebrate their passion for the Wildcats.

Tickets for the University of Kentucky Alumni Club 2006 SEC Pep Rally are $15 and available for purchase at the Wildhorse, the day of the event. The first 250 Paid admissions receive a FREE Event T-shirt, Children 12 and younger are free. UK plays its first game on Thursday, March 9, so the pep rally will be help from 11am ? 1pm.
