LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The Kentucky women?s golf team embarks on a road trip to Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday to participate in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational March 11-12 at the University of Florida’s University Golf Course. Play begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Saturday with 36 holes, and continues with the tournament?s final 18 holes on Sunday at 8 a.m.
Live statistics for the two-day event will be available at www.golfstat.com. Participating teams in the 14-team field include: Alabama, Central Florida, Florida, Florida International, Georgia State, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Princeton, Purdue, South Florida and Yale.
The Cats are coming off a ninth place finish at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic last weekend. UK tallied a three-round total of 913 (303-308-302) for the event. Senior Erin Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.) led the Wildcats, finishing in a tie for 21st place with a 225 (75-78-72). Her 72 on the final day of play was a team-best score for the tournament. Senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.) and junior Katie Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) each concluded tournament play in a tie for 44th place with 229s.
This is the 34th edition of the annual event, which is being played at the par-70, 5,927-yard University Golf Course. Wake Forest claimed the event last season with a three-day total of 883, while host Florida finished sixth in its home tournament.
