The Kentucky Wildcats completed their second spring practice with a two-hour, 15-minute workout in helmets, jerseys, and shorts Friday morning at the Nutter Training Facility.

Here are a few observations from Coach Rich Brooks following practice:

On the quarterbacks?

?It was very windy today and not a great day to throw the ball. I thought they did some good things and did some things they shouldn?t be doing. It isn?t going to be that much different from day to day unless we are in a full scrimmage situation when you can evaluate how they are moving the team. It?s clear that we have some ability at that position and I?m excited about it.?

On an interception by 253-pound freshman safety Maurice Grinter…

?He (Grinter) doesn?t move like he is 250. He is a great athlete and we were very encouraged to see that type of play from him. The more he gets used to what?s going on back there, the more you?ll see him.?

On offensive lineman Aaron Miller, who has returned to the team after missing last season?

?Aaron (Miller) looks very good. He is bigger and stronger. He is also more confident. We?re working a lot of different combinations on the offensive line. Aaron (Miller) worked some at right tackle today. Trai Williams played some center. We are working different combinations to see what is best. You can?t really tell about lineman until you get the pads on and get them run blocking and pass blocking.?

There was one injury during practice as sophomore cornerback Jarrell Williams sustained a dislocated shoulder while diving for a ball.

?We won?t know how serious that dislocation is until we see the x-rays and have an MRI next week,? Brooks said. ?Jarrell was doing a really good job and it?s a real shame. The good news is that if he does need surgery, he will be back in the fall. If he doesn?t (need surgery), he could possibly be back by the end of the spring.?

Brooks also announced that offensive guard Micah Jones will sit out the spring in order to concentrate on academics. A sophomore from Mayfield, Ky., Jones played in nine games as a freshman in the 2004 season. He practiced with the team as a redshirt during the 2005 season.

Kentucky will have its first practice in pads Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Nutter Training Facility (note location change).

Moss Adjusting: Wildcat basketball player Ravi Moss is making the adjustment to a new sport after joining the squad this week as a wide receiver. However, it hasn?t taken long for Coach Rich Brooks to form an opinion about the new wideout.

?Ravi did some very good things out there today,? Brooks said. ?He has been extremely impressive the first two days and we just have to work through him trying to figure out everything and get him some more reps. He certainly has the ability to be an outstanding receiver.?

Following Friday?s practice, Moss met with the media for the first time in his new role.

?It?s (playing football) different,? Moss said. ?I?m just trying it out and seeing what the coaches say. I?m having a lot of fun out there and the guys are great. They (the team) are really supportive and I?ll make a decision soon.

?I love football. I?ve always been a huge fan. I used to go to my brother?s high school games all the time and be his biggest fan,? said Ravi, whose brother Austin is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman for the Wildcats.

Regarding Saturday?s first practice in pads?

?It?s going to be different,? Moss said. ?I?m excited and a little nervous. It?s going to be fun.?

Location Change for Saturday?s Practice: Saturday?s practice will be at the Nutter Training Facility at 10 a.m.
