LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky men?s golf program has signed Derek Oldham to a national letter of intent, head coach Brian Craig announced Thursday.

Oldham attends Lexington Christian Academy where he has been a highly decorated athlete. The Lexington native is a two-time Kentucky High School First Team All-State selection. Oldham won the Kentucky Invitational Tournament as an eighth-grader and again as a sophomore. He finished second in the KIT in 2005 and was a four-time 11th Region runner-up. In addition, Oldham won the Andover Men?s Club Championship four times.

?Derek is the epitome of the type of student-athlete that we want in our men’s golf program at the University of Kentucky,? said Craig. ?He is extremely diligent in the classroom and has a passion for the game with a proven track record of success. I am really looking forward to Derek joining our Wildcat family in the fall and contributing to the success of our team.”

Oldham joins Brian Belden and Alex Volpenhein who signed with the Wildcats in November. All three will join the Cats in the fall of 2006.
