University of Kentucky centerfielder Megan Miller has been named to the 2006 All-Southeastern Conference Freshman Team, it was announced today. Miller is the second softball player in school history to earn All-Freshman team accolades and the first since Amber Janneck in 2004.
Miller is the lone Kentucky player to earn All-SEC honors after starting all 57 games for the Wildcats in centerfield this season. Miller led the team with nine sacrifice bunts and was third on the team with 21 runs scored. The Vancouver, Wash., native batted .273 with three doubles and was fourth on the team with 16 RBI.
In SEC play, Miller had a team-high six multiple-hit games and two multiple-RBI games. She had two hits in four straight SEC games against Arkansas and Florida and batted .455 (5-for-11) with two doubles and three RBI in the Arkansas series. Miller went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a career-high three RBI in the win over Arkansas. Miller also had two hits in each of the three games against No. 24 Florida. Miller was 2-for-4 in all three games against the Gators and scored a run every game of the series.
