LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The 2006 Southeastern Conference Champion Kentucky baseball team will conclude its fall practice season at 1 p.m. Sunday with an intra-squad game for spectators at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
?We like our club,? head coach John Cohen said. ?We have been going at it about three months – month of official practice – and we like this club. I don?t think we are going to hit 99 home runs and finish third in the nation in home runs this season. I think we are going to run the bases a little more aggressively and I think defensively we have the chance to be a better club. I think the arms are dramatically better, in terms of velocity and second pitches ? change ups, breaking balls.?
The game, which will provide fans the opportunity to get a first look at the 2007 edition of the UK baseball team, will be the third game in a seven-game series. The game will be a nine-inning contest pitting the black squad vs. the blue squad.
Admission is free and fans can park in Parking Structure No. 7, located directly across from the Nutter Training Facility. Fans should bring their parking ticket to Cliff Hagan Stadium and exchange it for a value card for free parking.
In addition, 2006 SEC Championship commemorative posters will be available.
