LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The Kentucky rifle team remained undefeated, handing the Murray State Racers a 4648-4594 loss in a match held Sunday at Barker Hall.

?We had another good showing by a lot of the team members,? head coach Harrry Mullins said. ?Tom Csenge set a new school record with a 588 in smallbore, on the USA 50 targets. I was glad to see Tom [Csenge] break 1175 in the combined category and Jen [Pason] was close behind with an 1169. Murray State is a good team. They struggled a little today but you can be assured that they will be ready for us the next time we compete against them in January.?

The Wildcats were paced by two freshmen, Thomas Csenge and Jen Pason. Csenge won both the smallbore (588) and air rifle (587) titles en route to the total individual title and Pason finished just behind Csenge with an 1169 (585 smallbore/584 air rifle). Senior co-captain Amy Sowash finished third in both air rifle (577) and smallbore (582).

?If we work out some of the kinks and keep our focus, our numbers will rise in the next few matches,? Mullins concluded. ?It was great to shoot on the electronic targets. I think that we still need to get acclimated to the projection of the scores but we have really started to stay focused. Next weekend will be another round of tests with two very strong teams (Nebraska/West Virginia). We just need to keep focused and stay on the course that we have charted.?
