LEXINGTON ? The 25th-ranked Kentucky gymnastics team looks for its first win of the year in week two when it faces Auburn at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum on Friday night at 7 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats fell to top-ranked Georgia in their season opener in front of a school-record 6,875 fans on Excite Night. Kentucky started freshmen in 12 of 24 lineup spots in the opener en route to a 193.575, nearly a full point higher than last season?s opening score.
Despite the youthful lineup, it was senior Krystle Cook leading the way by winning the floor title and posting a 9.8 on vault as well. The title marked her fourth straight regular-season meet winning an event. She now has 19 career titles.
Auburn registered a big win over NC State last weekend after placing second in a quad meet in Cancun to begin the year.
Last season, UK upset then-No. 9 Auburn in Lexington. Cook was the catalyst, winning both the bars and floor titles.
