Wildcats Post 4-0 Victory Over Penn

ATLANTA – The No. 20 Kentucky women’s tennis team picked up a 4-0 victory over Penn in the consolation match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend’s Atlanta Regional. The Wildcats did not drop a single set, advancing to 4-1 on the 2017 season while the Quakers fall to 0-2.
To kick things off, Morgan Chumney and Akvile Paražinskaite earned a quick 6-1 victory over OJ Singh and Ashley Zhu. Justina Mikulskyte and Emily Fanning then secured the doubles point by defeating Luba Vazhenina and Marta Kowalska 6-3. From there, Kentucky would take three-straight singles victories to clinch the match.
Fanning picked up the first singles win for the Blue and White, posting a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Vazhenina before No. 74 Paražinskaite downed Penn’s Lina Qostal in straight sets. The Wildcats would clinch the match as junior Mami Adachi recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Zhu.
The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 4 when they travel to State College, Pennsylvania to take on Penn State at 9 a.m. ET.
