Freshman guard Jodie Meeks has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office this afternoon.

The 6-5 Norcross, Ga. native has scored double-digits in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. He finished the week shooting .667 from three-point range (6-9), .571 (8-14) from the field and 1.000 (4-4) from the charity stripe.

His 16 points against Tennessee was an SEC career high and the most since he poured in 18 points in a win over Louisville. He hit a three-pointer against the Vols that pushed Kentucky?s lead to 10 points, putting the game out of reach for the Wildcats. He also hit a three-pointer that capped a 20-2 UK run that blew the game open.

Meeks recorded a 10-point, four-rebound performance in his first return to Georgia going 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line.

The award is Meeks? second of the season (he received the honor on Dec. 18) and the third this year for the Wildcats. Randolph Morris was named the league?s player of the week on Jan. 1.

Kentucky travels to Arkansas on Saturday to take on the Razorbacks at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live by Lincoln Financial Sports.
