LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 6 Kentucky gymnastics team won three of four
events and defeated Ball State, 195.300 – 194.025. UK hit above 195 for the
fifth time this season, and improves to 3-2 on the season.

Freshman Mollie Korth won the all-around with a score of 39.400 and has
now won four all-around crowns in five events. Sophomore Alex Hyland was the
only other all-around competitor for UK, and she finished in second after
posting a 38.800.

“We came into this meet looking to rest some people and give opportunities
to others,” head coach Tim Garrison said. “We were able to accomplish both and
I think we gained a lot of useful information.”

The Wildcats won on the bars, beam and floor. Kentucky’s best event of
the night was the vault, where UK posted the second best score of the season on
that event at 49.125. Korth won this event as well with a career-best score of
9.925. UK had the highest four scores on vault, as junior Sydney Waltz,
sophomore Katie Stuart and Hyland posted a 9.850, 9.850 and 9.775, respectively.

“We performed two new people on vault and they performed well,” Garrison
said. “Waltz was able to perform an outstanding vault and we were hoping to
have her back in the lineup. She’s such an outstanding vaulter she can make a
big difference in the lineup and she was absolutely able to do that today.”

Kentucky edged BSU on bars 48.450 – 48.350 for the team title. Korth
picked up a share of the crown with Kayla Beckler with a score of 9.850. Sophomore
Katrina Coca put up a 9.825.

“We had two new athletes on bars,” Garrison said. “I thought Katrina performed outstanding on bars in the second spot. Waltz was off to an outstanding
routine until the very end.”

Hyland highlighted the competition on the beam, as she took the
individual win and helped UK beat Ball State, 49.050 – 48.150. Korth followed
with a 9.825.

“I thought we had a good beam rotation so it was great to end with a 9.9,”
Hyland stated. “We didn’t have a great start today but Tim got us together and
told us we still have other opportunities to improve and we did that.”
