WALLACE, N.C.– The University of Kentucky women?s golf team concluded day one and 36 holes of play in ninth place at the Lady Seahawk Invitational on Monday.

Kentucky is led by senior Katie Johnson who is in a tie for 25th place individually after carding rounds of 79 and 75.

UK opened its first round with a team score of 316 and then rallied in the second round with a 309. The host team, UNC-Wilmington leads the field of 15 schools. UNC-Wilmington shot rounds of 303 and 284 to head into the final round with an eight stroke advantage over East Carolina.

The Blue and White received strong performances from a host of players. Junior Beth Felts scored rounds of 79 and 77, while freshman Erica Still enjoyed rounds of 80 and 79. Junior Elizabeth Dotson notched an opening round 78 and followed with an 81 in the second set of 18 holes. Rounding out the scoring was senior Marissa Muir who fired scores of 82 and 78. Four of Kentucky?s golfers enjoyed rounds in the 70s in the second round, a first for the season.

Kentucky returns to the links tomorrow morning for the final round of 18 holes. Last season, UK rallied from 11 strokes down to win its only tournament of the 2005-06 season and were led by Beth Felts? tie for second place. Complete results of all of the action can be found at www.ukathleitcs.com.
