INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.? University of Kentucky swimmers Heather Bradford and Warren Grobbelaar etched their names into the finals of the 100-long course butterfly at the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships after earning Olympic qualifying times in this morning?s preliminary heats.

Bradford tapped in 13th overall in the prelims with a time of 1:00.71, just a shade off of her career-best time of 1:00.53. Both times are Olympic qualifying times. The rising senior will be among eight swimmers partaking in the B-Finals of the event beginning this evening at 6 p.m. EDT. Former Kentucky swimmer Rachel Komisarz will own the top seed going into this evening?s finals with a time of 58.91 in the morning swim.

Grobbelaar, a native South African, notched a career-best swim of 54.49 in the men?s 100-fly. Grobbelaar won the 100-fly South African National Championship in April, and will compete in tonight?s C-Final of the event as the 19th place seed.

Jenny Bradford and rising sophomore Megan Pulskamp also were among the participants in today?s preliminary 100-fly event. Bradford tallied an Olympic qualifying time and 33rd place with a career-best time of 1:01.84. Her previous best time was 1:02.24. The Groveport, Ohio, native improved upon her 37th place finish in the same event at the 2006 National Championships.

Pulskamp, a first-time participant in the national event, tapped in a career-best time of 1:02.57 on her way to 56th place. Her time was under the senior national qualifying time (a tier just below the Olympic qualifying time). Pulskamp barely edged her previous best time of 1:02.60, but achieved the feat among the nation?s elite swimmers.
