With four days of introductory practices complete, the Kentucky football team will put on the pads and have full contact on Tuesday.
The Wildcats had a three-hour practice Monday afternoon in the steamy weather at the Nutter Training Center. Coach Rich Brooks continues to be pleased with his team?s effort and performance.
?We had a pretty good practice (today),? Brooks said. ?Some of the players are getting a little leg-weary. We?ll see how they respond when the full pads go on tomorrow.?
Brooks was asked about the progress of redshirt freshman quarterbacks Will Fidler and Mike Hartline, along with his first impression of true freshman QB Matt Lentz.
?The young quarterbacks do some good things, then they do some inconsistent things,? Brooks said. ?I think their decision making is a little better (than in spring practice).
?We always look at new guys and see if they can be a factor in the competition,? Brooks said in reference to Lentz and the other first-year players. ?By this time next week we?ll have a better idea who is and who isn?t (ready to compete).?
Brooks added that, in high school, the qualities that made Lentz attractive were, ?Leadership, smart ? He threw it well and was a tough guy who could also run it.?
