ZIONSVILLE, Ind. ? The Kentucky men?s golf team is currently ninth after two rounds of play at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind. UK shot a opening round 291, followed by a 302 in the second round to bring its total to 593 which ties them with Northwestern for ninth in the 15-team field. Michigan leads the pack with a two-round total of 569 (283-286).
Host-team Indiana is second at 573 (287-287), followed by Penn State in third with a score of 57 (292-284). Denver stands in fourth with a total of 581 (294-287), while Eastern Michigan rounds out the top five with a score of 585 (296-289).
Indiana?s Seth Brandon leads the individual standings with a total of 137 after carding a 68 in round one and a 69 in the second.
Senior Cale Barr leads the Wildcats and is tied for 10th overall after shooting a season-low one-under par 70 in the opening round. Barr followed that with a second-round 74 to bring his first day total to 144. The Versailles native recorded seven birdies on the day, including five in the final round. Junior Andy Winings is also ranked in the top 20 with a score of 146. Winings fired a two-under par 69 in round one and followed it up with a second-round 77.
Senior Brad Doster is currently tied for 56th overall after posting a score of 152 (76-76) in his first tournament of the season. Junior Ben Fuqua recorded a score of 153 (76-77) to tie for 59th overall, while Brian Belden rounds out the scoring for the Cats with a total of 156 (81-75). Sophomore Derek Oldham is playing the tournament as an individual and carded a first round 78. His second-round 74 brings his total to 152 which ties him with Doster for 56th on the leaderboard.
The tournament wraps up with the third and final round on Sunday morning at Wolf Run Golf Club.
