Men's Golf

The University of Kentucky men?s golf team returns to action this weekend, Oct. 21-23, at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The prestigious three-day event at the par-72 Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windermere, Fla., marks the end of the Wildcats? fall season.

The Wildcats finished seventh at this tournament last season. Senior Cale Barr, juniors Andy Winings and Ben Fuqua, and sophomores Derek Oldham and Jordan Blann make up the Wildcat lineup this weekend.

The 18-team field consists of 2006 tournament champion Texas, host team Central Florida, Arizona, Arizona State, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Southern California, Southern Methodist, Stanford, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest. All 18 of the participating teams are listed in the top 75 of the Golfstat NCAA head-to-head standings, with six squads currently in the top 10. The host Knights are 34th in the standings.

?This is the best event of the fall season,? said UK head coach Brian Craig. ?Isleworth is a great course and the field is perhaps the best in all of college golf. This would be an ideal time for us to put three consistent rounds together and end the 2007 fall season on a positive note.?
