LEXINGTON, Ky. — Due to heavy rains in the Lexington area over the past 24 hours, the No. 2 Kentucky baseball team has cancelled its Wednesday matchup with Morehead State, scheduling a make-up game with Xavier on Thursday, with a first pitch set for 1:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Kentucky (18-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) was scheduled to play Morehead State at 6:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at Cliff Hagan, but significant rains over the past two days have halted those plans. With no rain forecast for tomorrow, UK has decided to play a mid-week game with Xaiver on Thursday with a 1:30 p.m. ET first pitch. Immediately following the game with Xaiver, the Wildcats will depart for Auburn, Ala., via charter plane for its second SEC weekend series of the year with Auburn, beginning on Friday.
The game scheduled with Morehead State has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
In the season opener on Feb. 23 vs. Xavier, UK won, 10-1 in the opener of the Coca-Cola Classic in Mobile, Ala.
