LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The No. 25 Kentucky (13-6 overall, 4-4 SEC) women?s tennis team will face No. 10 Georgia (14-4, 6-2) and No. 17 Tennessee (13-5, 6-2) for the team?s final two home matches. The Cats take on the Bulldogs Friday April 4 at 4 p.m. and match up with the Volunteers on Sunday April 6 at noon. Both matches will be played at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

UK last played both SEC opponents in 2007, falling to Georgia 6-1, and was also defeated by the Lady Vols, 5-1. Kentucky?s all-time record against either school puts the Cats at a disadvantage, 11-23 against UGA and 15-16 with Tennessee. Despite the deficit in the records, Kentucky defeated both schools in 2006 and 2005. In 2005 the Wildcats beat Georgia twice, 4-3 in the regular season and 4-2 at the SEC Championships.

Kentucky finished last week with one win and one loss on the road. UK defeated No. 30 Mississippi State, 5-1, but couldn?t hold back the Ole Miss Rebels, falling 5-2.

Both Georgia and Tennessee most recently defeated Auburn and Alabama in home matches. The Bulldogs are led by Yvette Hyndman who is ranked 49th nationally and Tennessee is headed by No. 51 sophomore Caitlin Whoriskey, also named the current SEC Player of the Week.

Coincidentally, the co-head coach of Tennessee is Sonia Hahn-Patrick, who used to play for the Wildcats in the late 80?s. Hahn-Patrick is in the UK Tennis Hall of Fame and was Kentucky?s first singles All-American and was one half of UK?s first All-American doubles team. She also won the SEC Singles Championship in 1987 while playing for UK.

The Wildcats continue to be undefeated when winning the doubles point with an 11-0 record. Kentucky is led by sophomore Christine Johnston who has a single record of 18-1.

At Friday?s match against Georgia there will be FREE Qdoba for the first 50 fans and a chance to win a $200 prize pack. There will also be free t-shirts given away between the doubles and singles matches. For complete coverage of Kentucky women?s tennis, please visit www.ukathletics.com.
