The Kentucky men’s golf wrapped up play today, Tuesday, in the Prestige at PGA West finishing in 13th place after improving nineteen strokes from its second round score following junior Jordan Blann’s (Bowling Green, Ky.) team-leading 10-over par performance.

“I am really surprised that we didn’t play better than we did,” coach Craig said. “We will bounce back for our next event and finish our fall season on a positive note.”

Texas Christian took home the team title finishing three-under par and beating its nearest competitor, UC Davis, by 10 strokes. TCU’s Johan de Beer and UC Davis’ Nate Pistacchio each won the individual title as they carded all three rounds at or under par for a final score 210.

Blann, in his second and best appearance of the fall season, shot a one-under-par 71 to finish as the top-performer for Kentucky and tied for the 27th place. Following a birdie on the par-five eight and 12th holes Blann was able to knock down some key putts to keep his third round under par and help move UK up one place in the final rankings after the first 36 holes played yesterday.

Senior Ben Fuqua’s (Danville, Ky.) bounced back after a tough start in the first two rounds to shoot the lowest score turned in all week for Kentucky, firing a four-under-par 68 third-round performance. Fuqua blistered the front-nine holes with four birdies and five pars turning in the best nine-hole performance of the entire tournament. He finished tied for 54th.

Tying for 38th place senior Andy Winings (Brownsburg, Ind.) and freshman Mads Kristensen (Denmark) both battled all week to keep their scores in the mid-70’s to help their teammates to a respectable performance against an all-star field that included including 10 ranked in the top 50 by Golfweek.

In his first outing of the 2008-09 season junior Derek Oldham (Lexington, Ky.) gained five strokes over his second-round score to finish in the 81st place.

The Kentucky men’s golf team returns to the track Oct. 26-28 for the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla.
