LEXINGTON Ky. – Two Kentucky men’s tennis players punched their tickets to the singles quarterfinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Indoor Championships Saturday during action at the Lexington Tennis Club (LTC).

Two UK seeded players in the singles main draw advanced to the final eight by winning two matches on the day. No. 4 seed Bruno Agostinelli and No. 17 Eric Quigley will represent Kentucky in the quarterfinals on Sunday at Boone Tennis Center beginning at noon. Agostinelli only dropped seven games during his two matches. The Wildcat senior toppled Jon Hamui of Florida 6-4, 6-0 in the round of 32 to open the day. Agostinelli continued to roll in the round of 16 defeating No. 17 seeded James Cluskey of LSU 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Quigley scored the biggest upset of the tournament thus far in the round of 32, knocking off the highest-seeded player in the main draw in Jamie Hunt of Georgia the No. 6 seed. The true freshman won in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 to move on. Quigley defeated another higher seed in the final 16 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Vanderbilt’s Nikolas Cromydas, seeded at No. 12.

Three Wildcats bowed out in the round of 32.

Sophomore Brad Cox, seeded at No. 17, fell to No. 15 Jonas Berg of Ole Miss in his third-round match 6-2, 6-4. UK freshman Alex Musialek was taken out by Tennessee’s No. 8 Boris Conkic 6-2, 6-1. Wildcat sophomore Will Beck also fell to a top-10 seed in Javier Garrapiz of Georgia, seeded tenth, 6-2, 6-2.

Singles quarterfinals are scheduled for Sunday at Boone starting at noon with the doubles final between Georgia and Vanderbilt to follow.
