LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fresh off a nail-biting win over second-ranked West Virginia, the Kentucky rifle team returns to action, traveling to face off with TCU on Saturday in Dallas, Texas.
Kentucky (5-1) sprang a 4649-4639 win over West Virginia last Saturday, using solid scores from freshman Megan English, Tom Csenge and Leslie Angeli.
“This will be a great time for our team to see what they can do on this range,” head coach Harry Mullins said. “TCU will host the NCAA Championships, so this will be a good opportunity for the team to get a feel for the range if they qualify for the NCAA Championships. It is our first time here and getting a feel for the range and how things for is always nice.”
The Wildcats have been led by veterans Csenge, Andrew Roland, Jen Pason and Ashley Jackson, with freshmen sensations English and Ethan Settlemires cracking the starting lineup as true freshmen.
“TCU is a very good team,” Mullins detailed. “They are one of the top five teams in the country this year and they are very motivated to perform in big matches. Last year, they came to our range and beat us by a few points, and our team could not hold up to the intensity that they brought to the match.
“This will be the last collegiate match for the fall. It would be a good confidence booster if we were able to have a good solid number going into winter break. The team has worked hard all week and I hope to see some good things from top to bottom.”
