LEXINGTON, Ky. – Head Coach Hajile “Mo” Mitchell returns for his sixth year at the front of the No. 25 University of Kentucky gymnastics team. The 2009 Wildcats kick off their season with the 25th Annual Excite Night vs. Utah State on Sat., Jan. 10, in Memorial Coliseum. Reserved tickets for Gymnastics events are $5.00 each, regardless of age. General Admission tickets are $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for Seniors and Youth.

The doors to the event open at 4:45 p.m. with activities beginning at 5:45 p.m. A star studded night begins with pre-meet special guest performances with Kentucky and Utah State squaring off at 6 p.m.

Excite Night brings in excellent gymnastics talent, an amazing atmosphere and thrilling moments for many fans in Central Kentucky. This year will be no different and will be presented in Hollywood Style. Catch your favorite movie titles and well-known music and dance moves from Blues Brothers and High School Musical to the Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Wildcats are ranked amongst the top-25 in the pre-season Coaches poll, along with the six other Southeastern conference opponents. The highly competitive nature and strength of the SEC proves to be a true test every year for its members who all consistently appear in the top ranks. UK continues to add difficulty to its schedule outside of the conference with teams such as No. 15 Illinois, No. 22 West Virginia, and No. 29 Iowa.

After only losing one starting routine, the 2009 Blue and White squad adds four members to its roster. Sophomore Jasmine Minion (Memphis, Tenn.) comes from Utah State after competing at the NCAA Northeast Regional as an individual on vault. Incoming freshmen include Storey Morris (Tyler, Texas), Whitney Rose (Frisco, Texas), and Jennifer Taylor (Tulsa, Okla.).

Numerous UK prizes will be given away throughout the evening and the entire team will sign autographs following the meet.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the ticket office at 1-800-928-2287. Tickets are also sold at the Joe Craft Center Ticket Office on the night of the event. Group tickets (20+ people) are available by calling the ticket office in advance of the event.
