COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the first time since 2000, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team will travel to Ohio State for the NCAA Central Regional to compete against a highly competitive field at the Scarlet Golf Course, on May 7-9.

“We are honored to be selected to play in the Central Regional,” UK head coach Myra Blackwelder said. “I am very confident that our girls can adapt to the golf course because its conditions are similar to our home course, the University Club of Kentucky. The Scarlet Course is in great shape and is well manicured, and because of my experience with this course, I am looking forward to see how the team performs.”

Myra Blackwelder competed on the Scarlet Golf Course, during her career as a Wildcat, where she won the Lady Buckeye Invitational four consecutive years (1975-78).

Senior Mallory Blackwelder will see the course for the second time in her career – her first as a Wildcat. Blackwelder competed for Florida in the 2006 NCAA Regional. Joining Blackwelder on the field are freshmen Alyssa Randolph and Ashlee Rose and juniors Sara Hurwitch and Kristin Vincent.

No. 44 Kentucky will square off against its highest ranked opponents of the season including four top-10 teams: No. 2 UCLA, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 6 Wake Forest and No. 9 Purdue. The Wildcats will once again face No.46 Chattanooga, No. 33 Notre Dame, No. 30 North Carolina State, No. 19 Kent State, No. 23 Michigan State, No. 27 Ohio State and in-state rival No. 18 Louisville.
