LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Matthew Mitchell has released the team roster for the 2009-10 season.

The Wildcats return five letterwinners, including three starters from last year’s squad that advanced to a school-record fifth-consecutive post season tournament. Returning starters are junior All-SEC forward Victoria Dunlap (Nashville, Tenn.), senior guard Amani Franklin (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and junior point guard Amber Smith (Winter Haven, Fla.). Also returning are junior guard Carly Morrow (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and senior forward Lydia Watkins (Hopkinsville, Ky.).

“I’m excited about the beginning of the school year,” Mitchell said. “I’m looking forward to starting individual workouts and the opening of practice on Oct. 16.”

In addition, Mitchell welcomes three Division I transfers in sophomore guard Rebecca Gray (Georgetown, Ky./North Carolina), sophomore guard Keyla Snowden (Lexington, Ky./Akron) and sophomore guard Crystal Riley (Arlington, Tenn./LSU). UK also welcomes three freshmen to the squad in Kentucky Miss Basketball and high school All-America guard Adia Mathies (Louisville, Ky.), 6-2 forward Brittany Henderson (St. Altadena, Calif.) and 6-6 center Anna Cole (Mondovi, Wis.).

Three signees are currently not with the team. Center Jeniece Johnson and guard Bernisha Pinkett have deferred their enrollment to the spring 2010 semester. Freshman guard Porsha Postell has been dismissed from the team for violation of team rules.
