LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky football team is preparing for a greater challenge in the second game of the season, Coach Rich Brooks said following Tuesday morning’s practice at the Nutter Training Center.
“The upgrade is significant,” Brooks said. “This is a much better football team we’re going to play. No disrespect for Miami of Ohio (the season-opening opponent) but Louisville has bigger, stronger guys and faster guys than Miami.
“I worry about us being ready to play, and based on today, I am very worried,” the coach continued. “I was not very pleased with our focus and our execution (in practice).”
Brooks noted that senior fullback John Connor, who missed the Miami game because of an ankle sprain, appears ready to play Saturday. Junior wide receiver Kyrus Lanxter did not participate on Tuesday and is doubtful for the game. Redshirt freshman Cartier Rice remains questionable as he recovers from a strained hip.
Brooks also announced that freshman linebacker Ridge Wilson has been suspended for at least one week, including Saturday’s game, because of a violation of team rules.
