LEXINGTON, Ky. — After suffering its first regular-season loss in 359 days, the Kentucky rifle team returns to action facing state rival Murray State on Saturday.
Kentucky (2-1, 2-0 Great American Rifle Conference) fell on the road to TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, site of the 2009-10 NCAA Championships. The Wildcats were without starting shooters Megan English and Ethan Settlemires and fell 4657-4642 to TCU.
“We have worked real hard this week,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “After coming off low numbers at TCU, I think we are ready to shoot a match that will produce the numbers we are capable of and Murray State is a very solid team. They are young, yet very hungry and talented. The state rivalry is always there and it seems no matter where either team is on the national scope, when we get together it is always a close match.”
UK will offer an interactive live blog throughout the match, beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
“The last few weeks we have been working hard on accountability,” Mullins said. “(Assistant coach) Stacy Underwood and I feel that the team has learned and is ready to perform up to their talent level.”
