AUSTIN, Texas – The Kentucky women’s golf team stands in 17th place through 33 of 36 holes after play was suspended due to darkness at the Challenge at Onion Creek on Monday.

Play was called for the day at Onion Creek Country Club’s North Course (par 70, 5,938 yards) at 7:05 p.m. EST. The remaining holes will be played Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m. EST, with the final 18 holes immediately following.

Posting a 14-over-par 291 in the first round, the Wildcats registered a 315 through the first 15 holes of the second round.

Senior Kristin Vincent leads the squad with a 1-over-par. Posting a 76 in the first round, Vincent is five under on the second round. Vincent currently stands tied for 10th place.

With a 74 in the opening round, sophomore Ashlee Rose stands at five over. Rose bogeyed holes No. 3 and 18 in the second round, but birdied No. 12 to finish one over on the day.

Freshman Betsie Johnson led Kentucky in the first round with a 71 and entered the second round tied for 17th. Johnson currently stands at 8-over-par.

Freshman Ashleigh Albrecht and Junior Louise Ljungstedt each posted a 73 on the opening 18 holes. Albrecht currently stands at 11 over, while Ljungstedt is 13 over for the second round.

Kentucky joins an impressive 21-team field at the tournament. Joining the Wildcats are Augusta St., Baylor, Boise St., Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa St., Kennesaw St., Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, San Francisco, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas St., Texas Tech, UALR, UTSA, Washington and Wisconsin.
