LEXINGTON, Ky. – Elizabeth Koberstein, a setter from Madison, Wisc., has inked a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Kentucky it was announced by head coach Craig Skinner. Koberstein is rated as the third best setter and the No. 16 overall prospect for the 2010 senior class by PrepVolleyball.com.

“We are ecstatic to have Elizabeth become a part of the Kentucky volleyball family,” said Skinner. “Her talent, character, and passion for the game fit extremely well with our current players. This program will continue to reach new heights with her in the setting position. She has an incredibly quick release, plays great defense, has an amazing serve and plays well above the net. These are the reasons why she was considered one of the top three setters in the 2010 class.”

Koberstein was a two-year all-city player and a two-year all-conference player. In her three seasons for Madison West she tallied 657 kills and 430 assists in 232 sets of action.

PrepVolleyball.com rated her as one of the top-50 juniors in 2008. At the Badger Region Championship in the 18’s division Koberstein led her squad to victory and was named the tournament’s most outstanding setter. For the USAV High Performance team she was the squad’s starting setter and the team earned a silver medal.

She was twice chosen for a USAV A1 and A2 camps and High Performance Championships. Her club team finished third at the Junior Olympics Volleyball Championships in 2007 and fifth in 2006. A three-year honor roll student, Koberstein was also the recipient of five teacher recommendations for a peer tutor/leadership program in 2006.
