FORT WORTH — The Kentucky rifle team will wrap up the 2009-10 season Friday and Saturday, competing in the NCAA Rifle Championships, hosted by Texas Christian University at the TCU Rifle Range.
Kentucky (8-3) has sent six shooters to the NCAA Championships, hosted for the second consecutive year by TCU. The Wildcats will send Tom Csenge, Ashley Jackson, Jen Pason, Megan English, Ethan Settlemires and Katie Fretts to the championships.
“We are excited to get back out on the range and compete at the NCAA Championships,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “We have had a solid season and are looking to wrap it up the right way with an excellent score. Our team has been working very hard throughout the season and now is the chance for all that hard work to show.”
UK finished second in the Great American Rifle Conference championships the last time out, with the team claiming the smallbore portion of the match. UK finished with a 4645 in the GARC championships.
“The last few times we have been at TCU, we had performed fairly well,” Mullins said. “We are looking for that familiarity and former success to help us find a comfort level and put us in a great position to shoot solid scores. Our team is very driven and motivated to finish the season the right way.”
Fans can follow along on the TCU Web site, Gofrogs.com, and online at UKathletics.com. UKathletics.com will offer a live blog of the event, with TCU’s Web site offering live scoring.
