UK Athletics to Implement SEC’s Clear Bag Policy at Kroger Field

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday that a league-wide clear bag policy has been adopted for all SEC football games (both conference and nonconference) for the 2017 season. UK Athletics will implement the policy accordingly in Commonwealth Stadium beginning this fall.
Each fan will be permitted to carry one large clear bag – either a one-gallon Ziploc-style bag or a 12″ x 6″ x 12″ clear bag – plus a small clutch that does not exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″. The small clutch allows privacy for small personal items and is also easily searched.
The clear bag policy improves public safety by making bags easily searched and significantly reducing faulty bag searches. The same policy has been in place in the NFL for the last four seasons.
UK Athletics will distribute clear bags compliant with the policy to all season ticket holders with their tickets when they are mailed this summer. Additional information about the implementation of the policy will also be announced at that time.
The clear bag policy will not be in place fully for Kentucky football’s Blue-White Spring Game on Friday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m., but UK Athletics will begin educating fans to help prepare for the fall.
The Wildcats will open the 2017 at Southern Miss on Sept. 2 before making their home debut on Sept. 9 vs. Eastern Kentucky. Season tickets are currently on sale to both fans renewing their 2016 season tickets and buying new season tickets in 2017 at UKFootballTix.com.
