COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Kentucky soccer standout goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum will be in goal on Tuesday night for Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew in a Champions League match, with the Crew facing off with Santos Laguna at 8 p.m. ET, at Crew Stadium.

Gruenebaum, a UK letterwinner from 2002-05, will get the start on Tuesday in the group stage of the Champions League, with potential passage to the quaterfinals at stake. The game will be televised live on the Fox Soccer Channel at 8 p.m. ET.

A 2005 first-team All-Conference USA selection at UK, Gruenebaum spent every minute in goal as a senior for the Wildcats, posting a 0.91 goals-against average with 21 shutouts in his 66 career contests. In the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft, Gruenebaum was picked with the third overall pick. In his MLS career, Gruenebaum has appeared in 24 games with 23 starts, posting a 6-8-9 career mark and a 1.39 career goals-against average, with four shutouts.
