LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a heartbreaking outcome at Ole Miss on Thursday, the UK women’s soccer team looks to rebound on Sunday against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the UK Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats currently sit three points out of seventh and eighth in the SEC standings with two matches remaining. UK closes out the regular season next Friday, hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores on Senior Night. The top eight teams make the league’s postseason tournament.
Kentucky welcomes a struggling Mississippi State team to Lexington. The Bulldogs have dropped nine in a row in league play. The Wildcats own an 8-3-0 all-time mark against the Bulldogs and are 4-1-0 against MSU in Lexington.
The young Cats are led offensively by freshman Caitlin Landis who has tallied a team leading 13 points on six goals and an assist. Junior Kelsey Hunyadi also ties for the team lead with six goals.
Defensively, Sydney Hiance leads UK in the nets with 1.15 goals-against-average and five shutouts on the season.
