LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will compete at home in the Lancaster Aquatic Center for the first time this season Saturday against Tennessee.
The Cats are coming off a strong meet against Indiana where the women’s side won four events and the men’s side won three events.
The meet will be their third of the season after having traveled to Carbondale, Ill., and Bloomington, Ind., the previous two weeks.
“We are really looking forward to the meet tomorrow,” head coach Gary Conelly said. “This will be the first time this season that we will be close to a full team on both side. I felt like we took a big step forward against Indiana and I think we will see the team do the same tomorrow. I think it will be a fast meet. Tennessee has been turning in some great times early so we are all excited to have this chance to compete against them. It should be a lot of fun.”
Senior Kayla Sergesketter has had a strong fall so far. The Jasper, Ind., native won two events last weekend, the 100- and 200-freestyle, against Indiana. Megan Eppler has set personal best times each of the past two weeks in the 50-freestyle.
Colin Faris, a senior from Maysville, Ky., has Kentucky’s fastest times in the sprint freestyle events and freshman Anthony O’Driscoll turned in an impressive 200-backstroke time of 1:52.32 against the Hoosiers.
Lisa Faulkner and Greg Ferrucci lead the women’s and men’s diving units, respectively. Faulkner has qualified for Zone Championships in the one-meter diving event. Ferrucci, a freshman, has qualified for Zone Championships in the one- and three-meter diving events.

New scoreboard coming for aquatic center at beginning of 2011
The University of Kentucky is proud to begin the unveiling of their new state-of-the-art Colorado Time Systems aquatic timing and display system. With new deck plates, touchpads and timing equipment already in place, Kentucky is looking forward to the installation of two 9’x16’ displays that will be one of the best display combinations in college swimming. A 12mm SMD display that will be primarily used for video and a 25mm display that will be used primarily for timing and scoring data will provide athletes and spectators a stunning view of the event and provide a plethora of information. Everyone at UK is excited to share this upgrade to the Lancaster Aquatic Center with athletes, spectators and staff.
