LEXINGTON, Ky. –  Thanks to one of the most successful seasons in school history last year and an another exciting home schedule, the 13th-ranked Kentucky women’s basketball program has set an all-time season ticket sales record of 5,050 for the 2010-11 season.

The 5,050 season tickets (and counting) surpass the previous school-record mark of 5,022 set last year. It marks the seventh consecutive season UK has sold at least 3,200 season tickets and the second straight year with more than 5,000 tickets sold.

“I’m thrilled that we have set another school record in season tickets sold,” UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell said. “It’s a testament to our loyal fan base and how they support our program year-in and year-out. We have the best fans in the country and I take pride in coaching at Kentucky and I know our players take great pride in playing at Kentucky. Our fans help make Memorial Coliseum one of the best places to play in the country.”

The Wildcats, who play all home games in the 8,500-seat Memorial Coliseum, have ranked in the top 25 nationally and in the Southeastern Conference’s top four in average attendance seven straight seasons. The Cats also are very successful on their home court as they boast a current 21-game home winning streak. It’s the school’s second-longest streak and nation’s eighth longest.

Last season, UK went 17-0 at home and set a school record in attendance as 95,615 fans passed through the turnstiles. The Wildcats were 14th nationally in average attendance with 5,624 fans per game, their highest ranking since 2006-07.
